Love at First Sight
Situated at the heart of Ribera del Duero, Castilla Termal Monastery of Valbuena is the first spa with 5 star status in Castilla y León. Located in one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries of the 12th century in Europe the hotel has been constructed to sensitively enhance the surrounding historial building.
The spa area exceeds 2,000 square metres with 16 treatment rooms, several thermal pools, a water contrast circuit and a children’s pool.

Monasterio de Valbuena is a romantic destination in itself, together with its unique architecture and the culture, history and charm of the building make it into something completely different for a romantic break. Stay in one of our three special suites for an extra-romantic experience; one is set over the roof of the church and even has its own sauna.

The hotel Castilla Termal Monastery of Valbuena counts 79 rooms, ranging from our standard room offering to deluxe, Junior Suite and our three special suites. All the rooms preserve the charm and elegance of the 12th century monastery where they are located. This historical environment offers a modern decoration, integrated with the vintage furniture in keeping with the historical setting. All rooms have free Internet access by Wi-Fi system, as well as the rest of common and private areas. Bathrooms are fully equipped with all you need during your visit, bath robe, shower cap and slippers.
What to Do
If you want to take a break from our extensive spa and pool area, having enjoyed either Castilla Termal Treatments or specialised treatments from the Clarins spa, there are many other activities you can enjoy at the hotel and in the surrounding area.
Wine tourism is popular in the surrounding area, travel through the vineyards and culture that forms the Ribera del Duero wines. The hotel can arrange tours for you or you can hire a car and discover them in your own time.
For culture and history lovers, the monastery houses the headquarters of the ‘Ages of Man Foundation’ on site and there are also endless of remote architectural treasures as the locality of Peñafiel, with its 10th century castle turned nowadays into Wine Museum, or Cuéllar with infinite hidden jewels among their streets.
The Food of Love
The gastronomic space at Castilla Termal Monastery of Valbuena has an exclusive à-la-carte restaurant composed of both traditional and modern cuisine. All meals are prepared with locally grown or reared food from the surrounding areas or grown in our own organic vegetable garden.
Seasonality is taken into account when preparing our menu’s and we source items for the varied food choice bearing this in mind. The Hotel also has a cafeteria, private dining rooms and can cater for private menus in the function rooms. There are also many places to soak up the atmosphere, read the newspaper or enjoy a moment for a coffee or glass of wine
