The Hide

Hwange National Park, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Love at First Sight

With many prestigious awards to its name, The Hide is situated on a private concession on the eastern boundary of the almighty Hwange National Park. Set up some 20 years ago, this was the vision of the late Tom Preston, and still run by his family, you have a team of passionate people behind this spectacular safari camp. The friendly and welcoming team are here to guide you, with expeditions, bush walks, night drives, bird watching and so much more.

Romance

You'll be seduced by the beautiful natural landscape, swept off your feet by the serenity and sense of wellbeing that washes over you at The Hide, as your reconnect with the world and each other. The majestic creatures of the bush will captivate you, and the magic of the forests and mesmerising sunsets will transport you to another land. Sleep underneath the stars, and spend a night at the Dove's Nest Treehouse. This heavenly hideaway is the perfect place to escape from it all; just the two of you and the twinkling night sky.

Your Stay

Set underneath a cooling canopy of trees along a soft sandy path, the tent-style accommodation hides discreetly below canvas and thatch, the wilderness location not meaning a compromise on luxury. Contemporary, light and spacious features include beautiful outdoor bathtubs for two; the ultimate place to relax at the end of the day with a glass of something sparkling, enjoying the gentle sound of birdsong. Have a cup of coffee on your veranda in the morning light, and watch elephants, giraffes and zebras come down to join you, drinking from the mist-edged waterhole.

What to Do

In-keeping with the relaxed safari spirit of the camp, there is no typical day at The Hide, and it all depends on how much or how little you want to do. As a general rule, you go out at the same time as the animals, which is normally mornings and late afternoons/evenings, but the impressive and extensive wildlife means that there is always something to see. The Underground Hide is certainly a highlight for many. Along a tunnel, you’ll walk for about 10 metres under the surface of the earth – and then emerge into a “window on the waterhole”, where you can sit quietly, the unobserved observing. t’s a special addition and makes the experience of “game viewing” more intense and personal.

The Food of Love

The Hide's Head Chef has a motto: Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food. As such, the passion for fresh, natural and locally sourced ingredients is evident in the colourful and creative menu of sophisticated cuisine. For more intimate romantic dining, you can opt for a private dining experience on the restaurant deck, overlooking the wildlife, or in the sultry and seductive Wine Cellar, or even from the comfort of your accommodation, with a menu lovingly prepared to meet your personal tastes.
